Fiona Harrison
at the D-Day
60th Anniversary
2004

Gold Beach, Normandy

Fiona was invited to take part in the 60th anniversary of D-Day at the American Gold Beach museum in the French town of Ver-sur-Mer. Celebrations and tributes took place up and down the Normandy coast.

World War II veteran, Reginald Smith came to revisit Normandy under his own steam. On "D-Day", Reginald was shot and wounded on Arromanches beach, which is in the background. He recuperated back in Blightey and was then sent to Holland, where he was shot and wounded again!

Fiona in Arromanches with a group of dedicated Norwegian re-enactors, who later enjoyed her concert of wartime songs on Saturday, 5th June at Gold Beach Museum.
A live interview with Martin Coot of Three Counties Radio (Beds, Herts & Bucks), that included a chat and a song from Fiona.
The gentleman at the rear is a D-Day veteran from Milton Keynes, who was taken to Arromanches by Three Counties Radio.

During her visit to Bayeux, Fiona met many D-Day veterans. She was having her photo taken with the two lively chaps on the outside of this group when suddenly three Gendarmes and a military police chap appeared in the viewfinder, which made a superb picture - especially with the Lingerie shop as a backdrop!
After the ball was over - Fiona receiving a bouquet from the Mayor of Ver-sur-Mer, together with the curator of the D-Day Museum in which the Concert took place...

And this is a sight you don't often see in France... the predominantly French audience waving our Union flag!

Fiona brought the house down when she sang 'La vie en Rose' in French.
